I'm sure a form of this entry will end up on http://almostalist.com in some way (and by "form" I mainly mean the pictures and stories about the show--not the fact that I'm a major nerd).

For my own purposes, I figure it would be a good idea to recap Slope Day 2008 (just so I can remember it 10 years from now, when I reread these entries and realize how much of a nut I "was"). Unfortunately, I'm finding out that too much text is a sure way to get people NOT to read your blog...So, let's try it this way--my Slope Day 2008 in pictures (very few pictures because I'm a slacker at taking photos):

Wake up call from Jenn...although I didn't actually hear this go off. I woke up about 5 minutes after this was sent because the sound check people were going wild outside my window (and yeah--I like to sleep late...so what?!)

I Got online and decided to edit Almost A-List's interview with Fight! Fight! Fight!. I thought I could get it done in time to post it on Friday, but it just didn't happen...

Met up with Jenn on the slope to get some good pictures for Almost A-List. That's my "Pete Wentz" face (you know he always makes that freaking face--or one like it at least).

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists was the opening band. "It's alright! It's alright!" :]

Nobody believed I could ask the lead singer of Ted Leo and the Pharmacists for a pick. Not only did I ask and got one, other people got one too (off of me, of course--and I got no thanks or love from those people. Ya'll are wrong! All my hard work--seriously. I almost flew OVER the barracade trying to get that pick! And yet no 'anks for my hard work--dang, ya'll!)

Hot Hot Heat brought the cold cold rain. So after 1 minute into their performance, I had to say bye bye band! Peace out! Time to head over to Daisy's room and chillax!

Back on the slope in time for Gym Class Heroes...and who did I bring with me?! My partner in crime--Daisyyyy!!! :] You can ask her to tell you the story of how I (in her words) "back rammed" this guy, causing everyone to sober up for a second and know not to mess with me.

No more Slope Day. Enter a shower, dinner, and Made of Honor with Daisy! How come everyone was at the movie theatres (that guy from my COMM class, 2 of my COMM TA's, Kevin and his friend, that one hot guy, Daisy's friend....)? It's like, after partying on the slope, what's the next best thing to do? Hit the movies?!

Home from the movies. Enter a "slumber party" at Jenn's apartment! I packed my pajamas, toothbrush, hairbrush, and camera and was on my way to Collegetown! I walk along West Ave. and who do I run in to? Tiga!!!!!! Yeah, I have my weird face on since I was looking really haggard by that point and was embarrassed that I was so disgusting and he was so hot (and smelled sooooo nice). The weird face is the best way to soothe the awk.

The fun (of course) didn't stop there--but my pictures do. If you could insert a good hour and a half of footage from when me and Jenn were harrassing Tommy and when I was chasing him down the hall, that would show you only the normal portion of our night...
Because after we were done bothering Tommy, Jenn and I tried to do a vlog for Almost A-List. Somehow it took us 20 minutes to introduce ourselves and we ended up speaking in Southern accents...and then we finally went to bed at 5AM, having accomplished very little.

It was a great way to end the year. Now I just need to (literally) survive finals.... :[

How do you write a blog again?

I've been writing so much for Almost A-List (you should know the URL by now...and if you don't it's http://almostalist.com) that I have forgotten how to write a blog about *me*. Well, we had sort of a slump because I didn't update for a while and yeah--I'm the only writer. But I think things are picking up once again. I'm getting used to interviewing bands and talking to them--it's great! I'm like a mini journalist (or so I think). I kind of enjoy being the only writer because I get to meet so many amazing people along the way. I think my long term goal is to write for Spin magazine. Yeah, that'd be awesome. Or maybe I'd be a VJ on Fuse TV or something. I could wear my $83 four inch Guess heels as I interview Shia LaBeouf (who has nothing to do with music, but I just thought I would remind you all of my crush on that kid).

This semester has been chaotic with the school work. I'm relieved it's almost over. Let's just leave it at that

(I think the only reason I want to leave it at that is because it takes way too long to explain all the ups and downs I've had with stupid genetics and biochem and comm--yes comm...and, like I said, I really don't remember how to write about myself anymore. I'm really on the verge of writing in the third person and saying how "mundane", "not danceable", and "rather emo" this semester has been.)

In other news, I was dying to tell you that--eh, we'll wait for the next blog entry...

Yeah....So About Spring Break..

My spring break was cut pretty short, seeing as I was summoned back to campus for research. I kind of like it here though, when everyone else is away. I can blast my music as loud as I want which is nice...I don't have to worry about getting run over by amateur drivers....and I don't have to worry about bumping in to people as I walk around campus. It's really dead, but I like the loneliness of it all (I guess I'm a pretty weird kid).

While I came back Thursday, I say today (Friday) is my last real spring break day....because tomorrow it is on like donkey kong as I somehow try to figure out genetics.

So what did I do over spring break? Basically, I sat at my computer and talked to Jenn all day, lol

I interviewed a ton of bands a wrote a bunch of good articles.

So in a matter of 1 week, we have gone from 3 views a day, to over 100 views a day!!! Really nifty right?! I'm TOTALLY excited about it! Just think--maybe by this time next year, Perez Hilton will have a main competator in the blogging realm--ME!!!! (ok that's definitely REALLY hopeful right there...lol)

Anyway, I have to get up early to go feed the mice...and then I'm off to Mann to figure out genetics and stay far away from a computer. Oh yeah, I bought a really hot pair of kicks over break....really hot. You'll probably see me sporting them around campus.

Working Towards a BRILLIANT Idea

Yeah, Jenn and I have a brilliant plan.
Who knows if it will fall through (I hope not!!), or what will end up happening, but as of now, it's totally genius...if we could only make it a tiny bit more unique. :]

These guys are actually number 10 on the purevolume.com signed artists charts (which is relatively high..it's like out of 100) and they are scheduled to play SXSW (which, incase you don't know, is like a "conference"/"festival" thing where they show upcoming bands and films...I personally haven't been, seeing as it's in the south and I have no way of getting there. However, I do keep up with SXSW and it's definitely a great way to check out some of the coolest, most amazing bands/artists that are out there right now. I definitely recommend it--last year's acts included Bloc Party and Lily Allen :] ). Thee Armada is a good mix of powerpop (like All Time Low) and "the dance factor" (like Forever the Sickest Kids). I wouldn't be surprised if these guys ended up on this year's Warped Tour--they're the type of band that would make it there. Sooner or later, they'll be all big and famous and we'll all be like "I remember when they were just a little ol' band from Texas!" Definitely check these guys out...and might I recommend going to their purevolume and listening to "Rock, Shock, and Load"? That song is ON FIRE! Or, as they say in the Yay, that song is HYPHY!!! YADADAMEAN?! (lol)

New hip hop music for the world!! The Cool Kids are so avant-garde that they're reminiscent of early 90s beats (and style), which means they're old school--except they aren't. I don't know if that made any sense, but if you listen to their songs (such as "Black Mags", which is featured in the Rhapsody commercial along with Sara Bareilles and her song "Love Song") you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. And did I mention, I <333 these dudes' style. It's part old school, part rock, part stunna, part HOTT! Umm, we should totally have these fellas play for slope day--I'm tired of the whack hip hop/rap that was brought the past two years (although, T.I. was pretty boss...but dude, Talib? He hadn't released a record in FOREVER!). Anywho, you can check out The Cool Kids' music and more pictures on their mi espacio. If you don't like their style you at *least* gotta give them props for being the best dressed hip hop guys you've ever seen--I know I'm drooling over their look....

I'm really glad that I'm the person that people are willing to open up to. I'm the person that people are willing to trust, and it couldn't make me any more happier--not because I know that there are people out there who respect me enough to open up to me, but because they are willing to come to me for moral support or advice. You don't have to have an M.D. to help someone--sometimes I think I'm already a doctor.

Bye Bye 2007... :[

I tried to get one pic from each month, but seeing as I'm camera shy, I missed a few months (most notably June and October--two months when I was working extremely hard). Oh well...

(NOTE: the cut has pictures and is pretty image heavy....It includes pictures that I haven't posted before and aren't on facebook or anything...it also includes a few new pix from xmas)

JANUARY: How did you ring in 2007?
It was quite a sad new years...we were in that really crappy apartment that my dad's company was paying for as our house was getting built. It was sad. Really sad. I hate apartments. They feel like dorm rooms. Buttt eventually, we were able to move in. It was great! I really love the new house--it's huge! Now, if there was some way to move this house to where our house in CA is, I'd be set for life!! :] Here is my room...uhh, before the unpacking began of course :p

FEBRUARY: Were you in a relationship for Valentine's Day and what'd you do?
Nope. I hate singles-awareness day. Let's not talk about it...but we can talk about "THE" snow storm! Oy!! That was definitely uber fun, minus the fact that I was constantly plagued with the fact that I needed to study orgo. Nevertheless, Jenn showed me how to have the perfect snow day which was enlightening--snow days are definitely more fun than Californian "rain" days. :] And here is a picture of all the snow:

MARCH: Did you celebrate St. Patty's Day by getting drunk?
Nope, I don't drink. I don't even know what I was doing during that day...I do know that March was Spring Break time! That was a bunch of fun. I went to visit my brother in West Palm and Allie and Stephy were in West Palm too. We spent some time at the beach and a fancy pool. Then they left which was bummer...but I did have an amazing time with my nephew (surprisingly). What can I say? I'm a little kid at heart. :] Here's a picture of some palm trees (that Allie said were fake), lol.

APRIL: Did you have to walk in the rain (or any month in 07)?
Unfortunately, yes...I mean, to get to class I had to walk in the rain...butttt I also had an umbrella so no fears. All I remember from April is my birthday and having a "party" in the library. That was downright amazing!! Oh, and that was the month of the All American Reject concert--and I got their drumstick. Ha, yes, you haters, I have skills. :p

MAY: Did you fail any classes?
No, thank god. I didn't exceed my expectations though...stupid stupid BioNB222. Argh. Oh well. May was also the month of slope day which was pretty awesome, minus the fact that I was the ONLY PERSON THAT HAD TO GO TO OUR RESEARCH LAB! I swear....the things I do for my lab. They better not make me work this slope day--in fact, I'm rebelling!! And no one liked T.I.'s visit, but I loved it!! And this picture of T.I. is very lovely if you ask me, lol

JUNE: Did you buy a new swimsuit?
Nope. I don't like to swim....I also spent all of my time slaving away at my physics books...

JULY: Did you party on 4th of July?
Nope...I studied physics. lol Physics was a lot of fun though--in the sense that I really really REALLY enjoyed physics lab. I know, I'm totally geeky...my TA was hilarious though and he always tried to sabatoge me and my partner. Like once, he deleted all of our data and was like "oops". We were so upset but I was histerically laughing at the same time, lol. July was also awesome because afterwards, my dad and I went to Florida...and I went to Warped in Miami which sort of blew (see the blog)...but on an even better note, we got Champ!!! :] He's no longer that cute, tiny puppy you saw earlier...he's like a huge dog now--and he's not even one year old yet!! He also likes to bite feet....he's weird. I heart him though.

AUGUST: Did you go to the beach?
Where are the beaches over here? lol August was my first time in the city!! That was really cool except I now officially hate NYC. Maybe it was just because I went on an extremely hot day...or maybe it's because someone had pooped in a tunnel that I had to walk through and it was the most repulsive thing I have ever witnessed...or maybe it's because the city is just extremely dirty (don't get me wrong, I've seen really huge rats in San Francisco, and parts of Seattle weren't all that boss either). It was still fun shopping and hanging out with the BFF but I was pretty miserable, I must admit. I just don't like weird people bumping in to me, and I don't like those weird smells either. Here's a picture of the Empire State Building I took...I think the shadows are what make it look decent. Also, August was the month of the Camden Warped, my favorite day of 2007!!!! That day was unforgettable!

SEPTEMBER: Did you start school again?
Man, I started back in August! Get with the program!! I really enjoyed all of my classes, research, and my job though. It was an amazing semester! I also liked goofing around with Daisy. I feel like I'm laughing with her 24/7.

OCTOBER: What did you dress as for Halloween?
Myself...I had work and I wasn't trying to act like a fool...not to mention I remember getting extremely sick and had to ask someone to cover my mice for me in lab. I ended up going back home and falling asleep to an episode of Degrassi, lol

NOVEMBER: What did you do for Thanksgiving?
Ate a really good dinner. :] It was the first Thanksgiving in the new house--fun!!!! But BOOOOOO I had to be back early to deal with the mice. Grrr not cool!

DECEMBER: What do you want/what did you get for Christmas?
I didn't really want anything for Christmas...I had mentioned getting Mariah Carey's M perfume, and that's what I thought I was going to get. But instead, I got an ipod touch!!!!! I'm definitely not complaining :D It was our first Christmas in the new house so that made it extra special. My mom went all out and cooked a huge filipino AND american dinner! We had pancit, rice, rice cakes, and some other stuff I don't know the name of, lol. We also had turkey, mashed potatos, string beans, etc. etc., just like a second Thanksgiving dinner--and we ate everything on the nice china, that has gold rims, LOL. Seriously, my mom really got into the Christmas spirit. Just sit there and drool at how nice and delicious these pictures look (minus the Christmas tree and silverware) :p

Did you reach your goals for 2007?
I know my goal for the semester was to make at least a 3.5 so I could be eligible for the CALS deans list, and I did it!! :] I also finished all my premed requirements...I was really on top of my school work this year.

I'm not making any yet...

What do you look forward to?
Definitely not genetics or MCATS....help me. :[ I am looking forward to just living life and taking it one day at a time...any new friendships and surprises are definitely welcome. :]

   I just took this weird "dating" quiz because I wanted to see what type of wacko personality I have. I've been told my life is quite contradictory and that I'm a real life Hannah Montana--and it's true. I'm confessing it. I am like a Hannah Montana. While I'm that girl that's stressing about grades and GPAs (oh, and btw--I made the cut for Dean's List this semester!!!!! :] ), I'm also that girl rocking out up front or with some VIP passes to whatever insane tour is going on. I'm that girl that's fashion crazy and in to celeb gossip and drives that stunna car (yeah, I finally admit it) yet I'm in to underground music and saving the polar bears and watching Dog Whisperer and uplifting the Black race and being an independent woman. I'm really all over the place, but I guess that's what makes me unique.
   At any rate, back to this "dating" quiz. I found it to be very "Hannah Montana" status that it said that I was liberal and traditional. But actually, this makes a ton of sense, lol. I am pretty liberal when it comes to politics (I guess it comes from being a Californian, lol)....but when it comes to my life, I like to keep things traditional. This probably comes from my upbringing, seeing as my mom comes from a traditional family and my dad is old (yes, old).
   I also think the qualities of what would make a good match for me are sadly true (that kind of makes me feel like a jerk). While I admit that I do like the traditional, geeky fella, I do really want a guy that's stylish, which means his geeky personality should not necessarily cross over into his wardrobe. I try (really hard) to tell myself that the way they dress doesn't matter, but it really does. I guess my brother and sis-in-law had something to do with this. They got on my nephew's case about dressing like a slob. They told him that he didn't look like someone who was a junior national merit scholar (or whatever)--he looked like one of those garbage pail kids (or whatever they were called...back in the 80s I believe). Since then (and with the help of What Not to Wear) I've been caring about how I dress. I mean, I'm going to go to med school some day! I need to dress the part so people take me seriously. And similarly, my man should do the same. Dress like you're a baller even if you aren't. If you want people to respect you, dress like you mean business. (And FYI: This is why I like Shia--homeboy can dress quite well, despite what you haters may say! lol)
     As for the wealthy/ambitious thing, I assume that comes from the fact that I plan to be a successful doctor one day (yes, even though CU has tried hard to shatter my dreams, I'm still chasing them)...which means I really can't deal with any scrubs--'nuff said, right?

This is reason number 65841354856470 why I am not feeling New York.

I was really really REALLY pumped to rock out hardcore last night--heck, I needed it! I haven't been to a show since the Camden Warped....this is definitely a deprived state for me. Furthermore, I was pumped to be pushed against a baracade while screaming "Don't apologize, I hope you choke and die" at the top of my lungs (I'm not emo--anymore...that's just my fave emo line).
But hey, we can't win everything. The Brand New and Thrice (with mewithoutYou) show was cancelled. *tear* I'm assuming it has to do with the insane snow storm that supposedly hit last night.
The show has been rescheduled although the date hasn't been confirmed. I called the box office and they're aiming for a show in Feburary. I just hope I'm not too busy to go and it's not on a school night. But then again, I will of COURSE make time for the wonderful boys of Brand Nizzle. I've been waiting for them to play my fave, angry, bitter song for an ex-friend (which I believe was originally dedicated to Adam of Taking Back Sunday...). Not that I'm angry or bitter or have (m)any (hahaha) ex-friends, but that song says everything you wish you could just spit at that one person who backstabbed you in whatever way. It's like listening to Hit the Light's "Bodybag" and *feeling* the anger. I call that pure brilliance...and all the energy from the crowd they get when they perform that song is just WILD.
As for Thrice, they are lyrical geniuses as well. Listening to their stuff reminds me of when I saw them frosh year, after having been murdered by my first round of prelims. The show was intense. A girl who went to high school with me and now goes to CU, said her brother's friend got hit in the head and was knocked out for a while at that show. It really was total madness...but I needed the craziness. It helped me release all this anger and stress that just continued to build up.
Well, you win some and you lose some. But darnit Brand Nizzle!!!!!!!! (oh and as your FYI: I took both the Brand New and Thrice picture on this blog. The Brand New pic was taken at JHU and the Thrice picture was taken at the Warfield in SF. Nifty, right? They're my fave pics for sure)

On a separate note, this semester was awesome. I think (hope) I met all my goals...not that I had many goals. Just one. :] The best part of it all is strengthening my friendship with people who understand everything about me...and by everything, I mean all those weird things about me that I feel I had to explain or defend before. The only thing I haven't been able to win over with people is my love for The Dog Whisperer, but that's alright. :]
This semester has been a long one, but I really did enjoy it. I think it helped to have two people really close to me...I really couldn't have been so calm throughout the school year without them, so I'm thankful that I had them in my life. :]
Another perk was venting the frustration that "asian men and black women are the two most single race groups" (what's funnier is having this conversation with an asian guy and then a black girl). That's all I'm going to say about that...(although knowing both sides is definitely amusing)
Whether it was watching movies, watching TV shows, venting about stupid things, or even shopping at the Syracuse mall, this semester has been amazing. I loved my classes, my teachers, and my little cubicle job, lol. Next semester will be madness but I'll manage.

Oh, and on a side note, I think my Norcal kids will be happy about this convo (which is paraphrased since I can no longer find the original):

All Time Low is straight up love. They're jerks, but their new album is *KILLER* (and by jerks, I mean, they're typical 19 year old dudes). If you miss awesomely good powerpop or the old tunes of Fall Out Boy (circa Take This to Your Grave), then All Time Low's So Wrong It's Right is the album for you. And I thought Put Up or Shut Up was amazing!!!!

All Time Low is playing in Poughkeepsie on the 15th--same night as Brand New and Thrice! Uh oh, which one to go to...I need to get in one more concert before 2007 is over!! :p (I think I should see Brand New instead...if I saw All Time Low, that would be the THIRD time I've seen them this year...obsessive much?)

Remember my Paramore escapades this summer with the BFF at Warped (see Camden entry)? Remember how I had backstage passes and had the opportunity to see an exclusive Paramore acoustic set? Remember how I couldn't get a picture with Hayley because they were filming a documentary? Well, I saw that documentary on Fuse TV this past weekend! VERY exciting! I didn't watch all of it to see if I was in it, but nevertheless, ya'll should watch it over Thanksgiving Break. It's on Fuse TV's d'Fused. It gave an accurate discription of all the Paramore madness that goes on backstage. Yeah man. AWESOME times!!!! (and as my own tangent, I heart this picture of me and 1/2 the kiddos of Paramore. I can't get over the height though...but keep in mind that Hayley is the same height as me so....awkward? Anywho, there is nothing more attractive than a guy wearing tight jeans and a 2pac shirt--keeping it G and easycore at the same time is HOT! Why can't more CU guys look like this? Just sayin...)

To get you pumped to watch this Paramore documentary, here's Misery Business...and hey, I shouldn't have to bribe you to watch it--you should watch it because the BFF and I might be in it!! :p

After our little incident this summer (VIP in Camden), I've been trying to go on a New Found Glory hiatus....
Butttt I finally gave in, and it's a good thing too because their new cover CD is AMAZING! Putting that extra "punk" twist to all my favorite cheesy, 90s teen movie theme songs is icing on the cake. Their new single, Kiss Me, sounds like it was written specifically for them to cover--I can't imagine any other band who could have covered it better. The guest vocals (Adam from TBS and Patrick from FOB) add that extra dazzling touch of punk rock fineness to the album. The King of Wishful Thinking has the nostalgic sound of being an angsty 16 year old in California (or maybe that's just nostalgic for me, which it probably is). This song is one of their best covers on the album, mainly because it sounds like it's an original NFG song circa Sticks and Stones. Lovefool is also another winner on this album, because really, NFG's cover of it couldn't be more perfect. I urge everyone to go pick up a copy of this CD (From the Screen to Your Stereo Part 2) or at least get your hands on Kiss Me, The King of Wishful Thinking, and Lovefool. You won't be disappointed in the least. In fact, I'm posting the new video for Kiss Me, which also features Hayley from Paramore and Chase from Classic Addict (PLUG: CHECK THEM OUT TOO!! :]):

Four reasons why this weekend was awesome (Halloween weekend that is):

1. GOOSEBUMPS MARATHON on Cartoon Network! There's a God. (I posted the intro to the show...that beat is freaking KILLER! Man...totally addicting!!)

2. I watched The Reaping..not too scary (graphics not soo good). I just like that it had the 10 plagues from the bible and the lady (Hilary Swank) was trying to come up with scientific reasons for them. Pretty interesting. (This is the trailer for the movie)

3. Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments...very interesting! It was nice hearing all these horror film directors/screenwriters/actors talk about films from an "artistic" perspective. My favorite one they talked about was Night of the Living Dead, the original one released around the time of MLK's death. That's always been my favorite horror film because it's one of the very few (VERY FEW) horror films where a black guy is the hero. Apparently, they did this intentionally to make a statement about all the racial tension going on back then, which I just think is brilliant--a horror film that's meant to scare you and yet make fun at how pathetic our society can be? Brilliant. I couldn't find a clip of that, but I did find a clip of The Evil Dead. This film is totally low budget and ghetto as hell, but it's awesome! Andddd, for those Boy Meet World fans, this clip has commentary by Rider Strong. Enjoy!

4. Degrassi of the Dead...hilarious! Total lame sauce, but definitely worth watching! It was directed by "Mr. Simpson" apparently! How awesome is that?! They did a really good job with makeup--"Emma" looked zombie-tastic! And call me crazy, but Peter was awesome in this "episode". He makes a good zombie, I guess because that's how his acting is anyway. Here's the final scene of the episode, so don't watch it if you don't want to know what happens...but yeah. Peter does some majorly good acting in this scene (he's even sort of hott..definitely losing my mind now), and Jimmy does an awesome Thriller dance sequence during the credits

So instead of going home this weekend to get that emblem on my Mercedes fixed (I'm still lookin out for you) I went to my very first poetry slam last night with Daisy---AWESOME! I was a bit hesitant to go because I'm not really into poetry and stuff, but the poetry slam was inspiring....and the fact that it was "spoken soul" helped a lot. It was great to hear people spill out all these emotions that I have always had but had no idea how to express. There are so many talented lyricists out there and it's ashame that their talent isn't being exposed. A lot of the poems were very uplifting and phenomenal, and I'm just sitting there in awe that people have this talent to string words together like they're painting some type of picture. Even the way some of the poems were presented just made me speechless--I really wish I had talent like that. I wish I could take all my feelings and thoughts and just turn them into this mental picture.
The "main feature" was this genius named Stephen Bor. He grew up in Seattle but lives in Oakland right now---which in and of itself made me like this guy because I grew up near Oakland and lived in Seattle. One of his poems I really enjoyed was about how the teachers thought he was a "special needs" kid because he couldn't understand english...and they actually put him in a class with all the other special needs kids. This one struck home for me because it had a lot of the emotion I had back in second grade when my teacher put me and the latina girls in a "special reading" class since we "didn't know how to read". Man, I hated that woman so much for being so dang ignorant--but I'm glad she put me in that class because hey, look where I am now. But it was just stuff like that and a whole bunch of other poems that I felt connected with. It's great that there are people out there who have the same experiences as me. I'm glad there are other black women out there who get pissed off when people ask about our hair, how long it took, if it's real, if we can straighten it, or if we can fro it. Would you ask this to your other friends? I'm guessing not. So why ask me? I'm just like you.
I also watched Degrassi this weekend--eh. I'm so happy that Ash and Jimmy are back together though. They used to be *the* Degrassi couple. This episode didn't really do anything for me, although I did like the song that they sang. "Ashley" (blanking on this girl's real name) has such a soulfull voice--very beautiful. At the same time, the episode was ruined with all this Mia and Holly Sinclair stuff--LAME! TOTALLY LAME! Seriously Degrassi, I'm begging you--get rid of all these newbie characters! I mean, is Degrassi even *ABOUT* the old characters anymore? And when it is, it's totally predictable (last week with Palex) or boring (this week with Ash and Jim). (NOTE: In the middle of this blog, the BFF called and told me how a lot of people are hatin on the new Degrassi...I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing the lame here. I'm going to have to find another new TV show) The plus side though, is that Kate Todd filmed an episode of Degrassi this season--VERY EXCITING!!!! And in other Degrassi news, the next episode is right up my ally--ZOMBIESSS!!!!!!!!!!!! *squeals* I am SO ready for this, even though it is a lame concept (lame in the sense that it reminds me of the Clueless TV series Halloween special). There's nothing more exciting than a bunch of people running from dead people...if there's dead people, does this mean JT and Rick will make an appearance? Here's Part 1 for ya:

In other news, BIG D AND THE KIDS TABLE!! They're playing a show in Albany on Wednesday night...I really want to go. Hrmm, maybe if I'm spontaneous enough, I'll actually make the 3 hour drive to go rock out. I haven't been to a show since August. I'm scaring myself....They're also playing a show in Long Island during winter break, which is more practical, although I don't think anyone would go with me...ergo, I should probably go by myself in my "hometown". Here's my fave song that they perform--so much energy and so much happy. :]

Rekindled Love

I think regression is in full swing.
I've been listening to BSB *at least* twice a day and I've even found myself drooling over the latest pictures of Nick (and even Howie...since when was Howie the cutest one of the group?! Didn't he used to be the winky troll one?--that's for Becka ;] ). In short, I want October 30th to be here RIGHT NOW! Screw the new B. Spears....BSB, man! BSB!
Another reason I'm BSB giddy is because I just read an interview with Nick. He gave the best answer ever. When asked, "What word makes you cringe most when you hear it?" he responded with, "Paris Hilton" (ok, actually, he said it was the name of a hotel chain, but it's obvious that's Ms. Hilton since the two dated three years ago). This response made me fall in love with the kid. He's not only bitter, but he seems to acknowledge that dating her was a big mistake. I *love* this kid. :] I think Becka needs to put some of Paris' heads on that one picture and send it to the poor kid so he can get over her (you know what picture I'm taking about, girl...and you know he would LOVE that ish too....I imagine me, you, and Nick huddling around your compy, giggling and laughing at the Paris version of that picture...as well as the other two versions. :P).

Dear Jackass Whole Stole the Emblem Off My Mom's Car (because best believe that if you had even touched *my* car, woahhhh lawd),
I really hope you got a kick out of steeling that emblem....and I hope you enjoy wearing it too (NOTE: Apparently, this is a new phenomenon to some people, but it's actually not...people steal car emblems all the time so they can wear it as "bling". Ghetto and down right ignorant). Words can't even describe how angry I am at you. It's not even about the emblem, but merely the principle of the matter--you stole something from my parents because you thought it'd make you a baller. You have a lot of guts, don't you? I don't really believe in karma (because hey, I've been doing good deeds for hella people and yet some pathetic stuff like this happens), so I'm just going to say that I really hope you enjoy what you got...because if I see you on the street.........man, if I even *see* you on the freaking street....

HOLD UP! STOP THE COLD WEATHER OUTSIDE!!! (really...someone turn on the sun!)

If you're a true Degrassi fan, then you'll recognize who the new Marco/Ellie/Paige roommate is (I think he's moving in). I honestly squealed like a little school girl when I saw him! He's grown up veryyyy nicely (as in, he's gotten 10xs HOTTER!). I'm so surprised there weren't any rumors about this! Man! That totally made my night. Seriously, if you don't recognize who the new roommate is, you're anti-boss. And how does knowing who this guy is make you a true Degrassi fan? Well, it really doesn't, but it means that you haven't jumped on the Degrassi wagon because everyone else is watching it. I think those die hard Degrassi fans who watched the show in its first and second season will know exactly who that guy is. It's seriously nothing short of amazing! :] (and if you want a clue as to who the heck he is, keep reading...it'll become obvious where he came from)
The new episode was alright. Sort of a dull, considering I wanted more action from the new roomie! I was screaming at my screen though, when Manny didn't want to date Damien. What's wrong with her?! Damien is gorgeous, educated, and has an awesome sense of humor! Anndddd he's a gentleman. Ok, where on EARTH are you going to find a man like that?! I guess only at Lakehurst, eh (like my Canadian wannabe slang)?
At any rate, besides Damien, the new roomie, and (of course) Marco, Degrassi is hitting the lamage factor. I've been watching episodes from Season 1 and 2, back when Degrassi was at it's prime, and they were just better...I don't know. I have a hard time believing all the intense drama that goes on at Degrassi. The "old days" were more realistic given the characters. I don't know. Degrassi is like my favorite underground band going mainstream...I loved it when I was the only person watching it because it was *mine*. Now that everyone and their mother watches it, it's not special anymore. *tear*

I'm getting my hands on some RFR episodes!!!!!!! I'm excited! Now I can relive all those Friday nights, curled up in my tiny room in CA as I watched RFR, Degrassi, and All Things Rock (with Benji and Joel Madden from Good Charlotte...betcha don't remember that one either, huh?) Man, Sophomore year of high school--good times! I hearted RFR...I was like the real life version of Lily, just more emo/skater punk and minus the 3 BFF guy friends (although I definitely wouldn't mind having Smog, Pronto, and ? as friends, lol). At any rate, this show had an amazing soundtrack and an even better theme song...I tried to find it, but was unsuccessful. Nevertheless, here it is, with Skye Sweetnam, the girl who actually sings the theme song (this clip was used to advertise for her "acting debut" on RFR). WATCH THIS, PEOPLE!!! I just listened to a BSB single that leaked....and I'm not going to lie--I'm excited!! I haven't been this excited for a BSB album since Black & Blue, lol. Man, were those the days. With the whole Spice Girls comeback and the new BSB CD about to drop, I'm definitely feeling like a giddy 12 year old teenybopper again. In fact, on my drive back to school today, I listened to all those wonderful BSB hits and sang along shamelessly. I'm totally regressing to the "old days". I'm getting to the point where I'm about to whip out my BSB shirts and posters (heaven forbid). The new BSB sounds fresh and I bet they could make a better comeback than B.Spears did (although I'm sure Vanilla Ice could even have a better comeback than her)....Kevin will be missed but he never sang anyway *ahem*
And just to comment, the guys look *AMAZING* in this photo! Nick looks like he lost a ton of weight...or maybe he just gave it all to AJ (but I like the fact that AJ put on some pounds--he looks healthy...and his stunna shades are hot too). This picture is on fire. There's nothing more attractive than a guy in a nice lookin suit. Mmmm
Yeah, Nick is hot in this picture. Wow. If he wasn't such a nut case and Paris Hilton's sloppy seconds, I'd make him apart of my "Ten Year Plan". He was, after all, my first crush. Holla!!

Bug a Boo

So Bug (featuring Ashley Judd) was either the most complex and intricate movie I have ever seen or the worst piece of psychological "thriller" ever written. The wannabe neurologist in me thinks this movie was pretty awesome, but the film critic in me is saying otherwise. The advertisements for this movie are extremely misleading--I remember this being advertised as a horror film (sci fi even), not some weird social commentary on crazy folks...and after realizing that this film was based on a play, no wonder I'm so confused (you know, those types of hella artsy plays that people will go to and say "this is totally brilliant" but unless you actually understand what's going on, you think it's the most boring piece of thing you've ever seen).
Essentially, these two people think they're infested with bugs. Big whoop, right? Like I said, I was expecting this to be a horror film so as soon as this weird, freaky, talks hella slow, makes no sense, total geek came into the picture, I immediately thought *he* was a bug....but this was after the fact that I was majorly confused with all the borderline lesbian moments, which really had no point.
Then there was that whole moment where they did IT and there was all these weird camera angles and shots of red blood cells so then I thought, "ok, he's going to infect her and turn her into a bug too!"
And then there was this whole part, post-IT, where he sees all these bugs and she can't...and then he throws out all this bug jargon so I think "ok, he's a Cornell student, majoring in biology."
And then he starts talking all this stuff about how the Army infected him with some bug as a part of this experiment that they were doing. He mentioned how they had done stuff like this before with Tuskegee and AIDS so obviously I start thinking okay, this movie has some political undertone...I was waiting for the huge political/social critique that makes me feel bad about myself and our society.
But that was about as accurate as they go.
Because soon, he starts throwing out all this weird stuff that doesn't make any sense...and since they were on drugs, I put all my neurobio skills to the test and realized (SPOILERS):
1.) There are no bugs under their skin. Some symptoms of chronic drug use are these weird illusions where it looks like ish is crawling under your skin but there really isn't anything there--ergo, why coke addicts (for example), scratch all the time. This was merely the case in this movie
2.) The part where the guy is totally spazzing out looked more like an epileptic seizure than a guy totally freaking out because there's bugs attacking him
3.) The fact that no one else saw bugs but these two people made me think it was something psychological going on--hey, sometimes "crazy" can be contagious
4.) The "bites" on Peter's body looked more like scratches that a meth addict (or some other drug addict) would do because they thought stuff was crawling under their skin
5.) The whole helicopter bit and the rumbling of the house let me further know there was some total bonkerness going on
So there weren't really bugs...they were both crazy. The movie was able to display the whole "crazy" aspect pretty well, but I'm still not sure if I like this movie. It took them *forever* to actually get the plot going, which is kind of annoying. You really shouldn't take that long because your viewer starts to lose interest and may walk out on your movie.
The part that makes me think there were actually bugs was the fact that there were a ton of shots of bugs. I don't really know what that was all about--I mean, were there bugs or weren't there?
I can't say that I enjoyed this film like I enjoyed 1408, but this film isn't bad. It's one of those things that's like, is this the type of film you watch to analyze or you watch to enjoy? There's definitely a difference...it's like watching underground indie films like Suture (EXCELLENT film), which are so avant gaurde and brilliant but aren't necessarily for entertainment purposes as it is for a mental exercise as to how intelligent films are made. A film like Rush Hour 3 on the other hand is definitely for entertainment purposes. Bug falls into the Suture category for me--it's a movie I'll watch when I want to be all indie, artsy, and feel like this whole premed thing is actually paying off. Other than that, it'll just be staying in it's DVD case.

I just finished watching 1408---ummm AMAZING!!!! I was TOTALLY blown away with how awesome this movie was! WOW. I was a bit worried that all the hype for it this past summer was just going to ruin things and the film was going to be a flop...but it was seriously brilliant! *SO* many dynamic camera angles and shots--i haven't seen work that brilliant in a horror film in an extremely long time (maybe in Reincarnation?). The special effects were nothing short of perfect (in terms of story plot). You actually felt as though you were in that twisted room. I'm totally impressed--practically speechless!!
I've always been a Stephen King fan. His work is always twisted...and what's even better is he always develops these complex characters, and yet he doesn't waste any time with the chill factor. What's amazing about this film is that, even though King didn't direct/write it, I think it turned out the way he would have wanted it to. The director, Mikael Hafstrom, was on point. It's *so* hard translating a book into a film because you lose so much essence, tone, and emotion--some stuff just can't be portrayed. 1408 is unique though and shines where many horror films would only dare to go. It's funny, a bit sad, and of course, chilling. I would have loved to see more Jackson, but you take what you can get, right? It's ashame that none of my friends are horror fans (what's wrong with you people? :P ). I think ya'll would be pleased with this one. I know I'll be watching it again soon!! :] (I don't think it's that scary...the only time I screamed was when my mom popped up in the room and yelled at me for having the TV too loud)

As for the Degrassi season premiere--double you, tee, eff!!!! It wasn't as good as I was expecting (I think I was over excited for it). I had already figured out that Darcy was going to be (SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT!) raped by someone that wasn't Peter, so that took out all the "thrill" when it actually happened...they're running out of material and they're getting rather desperate. 80%-ish of rapes are from someone you know (even if you don't know them that well)....so what are the odds that some (SPOILER) psycho townie is going to spike your drink and rape you? Don't get me wrong, stupid (and scary) stuff like that happens, but the whole situation was just weird. I mean, how did that person know to put Peter in the bed next to her? How did he know they were dating? He was a stalker or something? And (SPOILER) when Manny found Darcy trying to kill herself, that was over dramatic. Maybe I just hate the Darcy and Peter (Parcy) thing so much that I was disappointed with the premiere. Oh, and the whole Marco and Toby subplots didn't fit with this episode--it was pretty random. Although I guess they wanted to hurry up and address stuff from last season....
Oh yeah, and Manny's freaking hair.....my gawd. And Emma--WOAH! She looked like a freaking 25 year old woman in this episode!! Total madness, man!

So I'm one for one of the things I wanted to watch this weekend. 1408 is on my new fave list of movies, and Degrassi is about to be taken off my fave list of TV shows...seriously, can we go back to when it was just Emma, Manny, Liberty, TERRY, Ashley, Jimmy, Sean, Hazel, Paige, JT, Toby, and Spinner? Oh and Snake, Spike, Caitlin, and Joe-erz too. AND Mr. Armstrong. :] Oh! The plus for this episode was that they brought back Ms. Sauve!!! I heart her! And she looks totally AMAZING in this episode! I really like her haircut. :] Anywho, next week looks sort of blah. It's about Palex again...and Paige is doing the whole "Devil Wears Prada" thing. It's crazy though....this girl drops out of Banting, "the Havard of the north" (it's a fake school, FYI), and yet she has this whole career going?! Should I do that too? Should I drop out and start a record company? Hrmmm...

Ross Is More Boss Than Perez

Does it bother anyone else that the picture says "BREATH" instead of "BREATHE"?! IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS! That just goes to show you that you really don't need to be educated to make a ton of money and be famous...From Perez Hilton, I've learned that all I have to do is acquire pictures of celebs and write ugly, mispelled letters in white using Paint--no need to use Photoshop, it's too complicated and expensive. Just Paint. Next, I just need to dye my hair ugly colors and go around Hollywood looking tore up from the floor up.
Can Perez just go away? The online gossip is cool but get someone to proof read your ish, man!
